We've all been waiting for Apple to bring us the next truly different, revolutionary mobile device and...well...the iPhone 7 just isn't it.

Despite Tim Cook's pledge that the iPhone 7 is the world's most advanced smartphone and the best iPhone they have ever created, many detractors and even Apple loyalists feel somewhat differently.

So, it's time for you to decide if the new iPhone 7 is worth almost $650 - $850 of your hard-earned money. By now, we'v all heard the outcry over the removal of the headphone jack. Yeah, it's gone, but is it really as big a deal as folks are making it out to be?

The headphone jack was actually removed, in favor of a more water resistant phone. Maybe the trade-off is actually worth it, though it's worth noting that other manufacturers have delivered very water-resistant phones that still have our beloved little headphone jack.

The iPhone 7 will begin shipping from Apple and wireless carriers on September 16th, but if you want to be among the first on your block to show yours off, you better pre-order now.

As always, with any new Apple release, demand is sky high. At this point, if you want your new iPhone 7 in Jet Black, you'll have to wait until November to get it. The longer you wait, that later you'll get it.

Pricing:

The iPhone 7 is available with 3 different hard drives. The 32GB base model will cost you $649, while the 128GB will run $749 and the 256GB will set you back $849. This is actually the same that you would've paid for the iPhone 6 when that was initially released.

Looks:

As far as the looks of this latest installment in the iPhone franchise, it looks virtually the same as the iPhone 6, with the standard rounded design, but it is a bit lighter (5 grams lighter, which is the approximate weight of a single piece of paper). It's more dust and water resistant than previous models, bringing it in-line with the Samsung Galaxy S7 (which retained its headphone jack). Apple is also offering the iPhone 7 in 2 new colors - Black and Jet Black - but they have removed the Space Grey option from their lineup.

While the iPhone 7 did lose the headphone jack, it did not lose the awkward camera bump on the rear-side of the unit.

Features:

Stereo Speakers - With one speaker at the top and one at the base of the handset, the iPhone 7 delivers louder, clearer audio. According to Apple, the volume on the new iPhone 7 will be twice as loud as the iPhone 6.

Headphone Jack - While the traditional jack has been removed, Apple will be shipping the iPhone 7 with an adaptor for standard headphones and Lightning EarPods in the box. The major downside, aside from having to use an adaptor to use your wired headphones, is that you will not be able to use them while charging your iPhone 7. If you're looking to drop another wad of cash in the Apple Store, you can certainly pick up a set of AirPods (Apple's wireless bluetooth earbuds) for $159.

Camera - The camera on the iPhone 7 is clearly the best that Apple has ever offered, although it still falls short of some other mobile phone cameras on the market. On the back side of the iPhone 7, you'll find a wide-aperture, single-lens 12MP camera. The flash now has 4 LEDs whcih deliver more light and range. On the front, you'll get a 7MP camera (as opposed to the 5MP camera of the iPhone 6). The cameras are also 60% faster and 30% more power efficient, so you can worry a little less about battery drain. With a completely revamped camera system, the iPhone 7 has Optical Image Stabilization, which Apple has been late to the game with.

Battery - The iPhone 7 boasts the longest-lasting iPhone ever created, with up to 2 hours more life than its predecessor. According to Apple, you'll get up to 40 hours or wireless audio playback

.

Display - While Apple has chosen to retain the screen size and resolution from the iPhone 6, the new screen is a bit brighter. Without an upgrade of the screen, the iPhone 7 graphics will pale in comparison to the Galaxy S7.

Home Button - The iPhone 7's new pressure-sensitive home button makes it more powerful than ever before. The home button now features the same pressure sensitive technology as the touchpad on the new MacBooks.
Summary
When the big talking points of a new iPhone are a couple of more hours of battery life, a brighter flash and a pressure-sensitive home button, it's clear that this is not Apple's next big move. It looks like we'll have to wait until 2017 or 2018 to see that.
